George Washington Park is Now Imogene Post Park, Honoring a True Miami Springs Trailblazer
Big news, Miami Springs! The City Council has voted and passed the proposal, George Washington Park, our charming Butterfly & Bird Garden right across from the public library, will now proudly bear the name Imogene Post Park.
So…

Meet Imogene “Gene” Post
Imogene Post was more than just a name in our history books, she was a mover, shaker, and heart of our community. As the founder of the Miami Springs Woman’s Club, she didn’t just host meetings and tea parties, she rolled up her sleeves and built legacies that still shape our city today.
But Gene didn’t stop there. She also founded the First Methodist Church and the First Presbyterian Church here in Miami Springs. Her fingerprints are all over the cornerstones of our community life. And perhaps one of her proudest moments? Helping start the very first library in Miami Springs as one of the Woman’s Club’s very first projects.
Why Name a Park After Her?
If you think about it, renaming the park right across from our library is more than fitting, it’s poetic. Gene’s work was about growing minds, bringing people together, and planting seeds for the future. What better tribute than a park filled with flowers, butterflies, and birds, symbols of beauty, growth, and transformation?
This new name isn’t just about honoring the past; it’s about inspiring future generations to learn about the people who made our city special. Next time you stroll through the garden or bring a book to read under the trees, you’ll be standing in a space that carries Gene’s spirit.

A Lasting Legacy
Renaming the park to Imogene Post Park ensures her contributions aren’t just tucked away in archives, they’re front and center, celebrated in the heart of Miami Springs. It’s a reminder that one person, armed with vision and love for their community, can truly make history.
A huge thank you to the Miami Springs Woman’s Club for this incredible idea and for leaving yet another lasting legacy in the Miami Springs history books.
