Miami Springs has a brand-new guardian of its past, and it’s someone who already knows and loves it well. Last night at City Hall, Ken Wilde was officially named the first-ever City Historian for Miami Springs, marking a proud and historic moment for our community.
With a passion for stories and a deep connection to our city, Ken has spent countless hours uncovering, preserving, and sharing the rich history that makes Miami Springs so unique. Now, in his new role, he’ll continue to keep our community’s legacy alive for future generations.
Ken expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Mayor and City Council for creating this role and entrusting him with such an important responsibility. He also shared a special thanks to his wife, Betty, for supporting his love of history, even if it means the “honey-do” list sometimes takes a back seat, and to his daughter, Angie, for being there to celebrate this milestone moment.
“It was a night I’ll never forget,” Ken shared. “I look forward to keeping our community’s story alive for generations to come.”
From our early days as a vision of aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss to the vibrant, close-knit community we are today, Miami Springs’ history is a treasure, and with Ken Wilde as our first City Historian, it’s in good hands.
Here’s to you, Ken, and to many more chapters in the story of Miami Springs!
