🦅 History Made: Golden Hawks Bring Home First-Ever State Baseball Title!

Big news, Miami Springs! Our very own Golden Hawks soared to victory this May, bringing home the school’s first-ever Florida Class 3A State Baseball Championship, and the whole town is still buzzing with pride! ⚾💛

The magic happened in Fort Myers, where the Hawks pulled off an unforgettable 2–1 upset over top-seeded South Walton. Lefty pitcher Magdiel Estevez delivered a complete game masterpiece, while Taylor Ancheta fired up the stands with a clutch second-inning home run. It was a storybook win that felt straight out of a movie, and it was ours.

Before the big game, the Hawks lit up the semifinals with a dominant 12–2 victory over Bishop Verot, punching their ticket to the state finals and ending a 37-year drought for the school at any state championship. It marked the first state baseball title appearance in Miami Springs Senior High's history. Let that sink in, our small-town school just made big-time history.

Coach David Fanshawe and his team were unstoppable from start to finish. From power plays by Kelven Perera, Justin Mercado, and Taylor Ancheta, to defensive walls like Kevin Roque, Royden Perez, and Yordan Torres, every Hawk played their heart out, and it showed.

🎉 Hometown Heroes Honored at the Circle

What do you do when your team wins it all? You celebrate the Springs way, with a parade at the Circle! 🚍💦

On Sunday, June 1, the streets of Miami Springs were lined with cheers, hugs, and homemade signs as neighbors came together to honor our champions. The parade started at the Rec Center and rolled down Westward Drive with all the joy and pride you could imagine.

The team rode high on an open-top bus, ducking under our iconic oak trees, waving to families and friends who showed up in full force. And in classic Springs fashion, yes, they were drenched at the Circle in a victorious splash that’s quickly becoming tradition.

At the celebration, Mayor Walter Fajet, and local leaders, including School Board Member Danny Espino, Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis,  VG's Mayor Spencer Deno IV, Medley Mayor Ana “Lily” Stefano and  State Senator Bryan Avila, recognized the team’s incredible season. It was a moment that captured everything we love about this town: heart, community, and a whole lot of hometown pride.
